Go forth and set the world on fire  - St Ignatius

These mothers are supported by the Tiny Miracles Foundation to attend tailoring, design and fabric painting training. After they have finished the training we provide them with work.

Jaishree Sarju

This is Jaishree. She is 28 years old and has a husband and 4 daughters: Tisha (8), Isha (), Kripa (4) and Vaishnavi (1.5). When we announced in the community that there was assembly work for the Leather Lampshades, she was the first one to be there. She is extremely precise and fast when she works. Jaishree earned a similar amount in 3 days to what her husband earns in 2 months. During lunch time she is always gone for 2 hours to feed her children and clean the house. Upon return she would bring the full on Indian lunch for us to eat: bread, potatoes and vegetables.

Seema Ganesh

This is Seema. She is 30 years old, is married to Ganesh and has 2 daughters Sakshi (9) and Devika (6) and 1 son Gaurav (4). She lives with Jaishree’s family and another family in one ‘house’. Her mother also lives with them. Seema also loves to work, especially for the Leather Lampshade project. She just wants to go on and on, and keeps smiling all the way. Together with Jaishree, she is our favorite friend when it comes to assembly. She only complains when we stop working (the maximum is 7 hours per day) and understands a little English which makes it easy to communicate with her.

Reshma Pardeshi

She is 30, married and has 3 daughters: Neha, Priti and Pia. She likes to study and she loves cooking, especially bread making. For an income she has always done canework together with her husband. They make cane baskets. But there is only a very small demand for these cane baskets so they earn about 1,500 rupees (30 euros) a month. She is very happy that she can work for the Tiny Miracles Foundation now to make more money and have a better life.

Zoba Dinesh

She is 35, married and has 2 sons and 1 daughter. She lives with her family in a small house close to the Tiny Miracles center. She also does cane work with her husband, but they earn so little that she cannot pay for education of her 3 children. She is happy with any work that we give her. Their biggest asset in the house is the TV. She loves watching Bollywood films when she is at home.

Ruby Dharmendra

She is 33, married and has 1 daughter and 2 sons. As most working mothers, she is Hindu. When she is not doing housework like cleaning and cooking, she likes to go the temple. She loves the elephant god Ganesh. He protects her and her family and she brings him flowers and sweets every Sunday. She likes the Tiny Miracles Foundation because it will help her get a better life.

Lakshmi Naresh

She is 29, married and has 1 daughter and 2 sons. She and her husband have big money problems, they cannot pay for her children to go to school. She has no work, her husband earns 1,000 rupees (20 euros) per month making motorcycle saddles. She is very happy that the Tiny Miracles Foundation has put her into sewing class, because that was always her dream. She can now earn more money to make her life better and make clothes for her children.
