We build this city
because we feel that these 115 families deserve the opportunity
of creating a better life for themselves.
We see a lot of young girls forced into prostitution in the red
light district out of the necessity to make money. This is not
the life that a child deserves, and we want to put a stop to it
as an urgent priority.
We see all the men involved in making cane baskets, but they sell
next to nothing because there is no demand.
We see mothers and grandmothers who, because they lack skills,
cannot find employment. If they are lucky they might find a job
as a housemaid of a prostitute working 60 hours per week for only
8 euros a month.
We see both adults and children dying of preventable and treatable
diseases like tuberculosis. Without change, we see so many children
that will carry on this poverty to the next generation.
This is why we create the City of Miracles. |
